Chevrolet introduced its compact Nova SS in 1964, with an optional 283-cubic-inch V-8. This 1966 is powered by a 350-hp 327-cubic-inch V-8, which made this small car very hot indeed.

 

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

 

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was one of the most serious muscle cars with a 454-cubic-inch V-8 engine which put out 360 horsepower.

 

1969 Ford Torino GT Cobra

 

This 1969 Ford Torino GT Cobra was one of Ford's most potent muscle cars, equipped with a 360-hp 428-cubic-inch V-8.

 

1968 Plymouth Road Runner

 

The Plymouth Road Runner, introduced in 1968 in the intermediate Belvedere line, was Chrysler Corp.'s loudest answer to the Pontiac GTO. It was powered by a special 335-hp 383 V-8. An optional 426-inch "street hemi" rated at 425 hp was available.
